Minot Park District Ready for Planting Season

Minot, N.D. – The Minot Park District Horticulture Department is gearing up to plant over 27,000 flowers throughout the park system in the next coming weeks. There are a variety of different species of plants that will be on display in numerous different locations including the Roosevelt Park Zoo, Souris Valley Golf Course, Corbett Field, Jack Hoeven Ballpark and over 15 park locations.

Our greenhouses are filled with many different types of plants such as annuals, perennials, tropicals and you can even find some edible varieties.  In fact there are arrangements specifically designed in the Roosevelt Park Zoo that can be used for enrichment for the animals calling Minot home.

Minot Parks has 16 parks, over 20 miles of trails and growing, sports complexes including the recently renovated Corbett Field and Jack Hoeven baseball complex, Optimist Soccer Complex, Maysa Arena with the new addition of the Pepsi Rink, Roosevelt Park Zoo, Roosevelt Park 50m Pool, Oak Park Splash Pad, Radio City Splash Pad, Dakota Bark Park, Souris Valley Golf Course, and Jack Hoeven Wee Links.

“The Minot Park District horticulture department plays a huge role in our park system.”  Says Ron Merritt, Executive Director of the Minot Park District.  “They will not only be planting 27,000 plants throughout our system, they are also in charge of mowing our parks and keeping our sports facilities in top condition for our user groups.”
