10 Apr Minot Parks to Close Roosevelt Park Pool and Skate Park for 2025 Summer Season
Minot, ND- Out of an abundance of caution the Minot Park Board has made the decision at a Special Board meeting held at Roosevelt Park on Monday, April 7 at 1:00pm to close the Roosevelt Park Pool for the 2025 Summer Season. The decision came after a tour of the construction zone that has been established for both MI-6 and MI-7 flood protection projects. The proximity of the heavy civil construction to both the Roosevelt Park Pool and the Skate Park is a major safety concern for pool and park visitors. “It was an extremely hard decision for the Minot Park Board to make because we know the pool and skate park serve so many visitors each year” says Jarrod Olson, Director of Operations for the Minot Park District. “Ultimately it came down to the safety which is always our number one priority.” The Minot Park District understands the disappointment that comes with this decision to close the pool for the 2025 summer season. Minot Parks will continue to work with the Souris River Joint Board during this summer of construction to ensure the Roosevelt Park Pool will be open in 2026. The Roosevelt Park Pool will also be seeing a completely new filtration system that will be installed in the fall of 2025. The current system is over 30 years old and was not replaced after the 2011 flood. At this time the Roosevelt Park Pickleball Courts will remain open, but we do ask that users are aware that accessibility can change on short notice. We will do our best to inform users of any interruptions through our website and social media. It is always the goal of the Minot Park District to keep our facilities open and running for our community. Decisions like this are not taken lightly. Once again, we are asking our community for some grace and some patience as we navigate this process with the Souris River Joint Board and the City of Minot.
