Summer Olympics

Summer Olympics is a track meet for children ages 6-14. The 2024 meets are held on June 6, 13, 18,and 25 at 6:00 pm at Duane Carlson Stadium. Children compete against others in their age group in running, jumping, and throwing events. Ribbons are given to all participants. This program is free.

From mid-June through early August, this program offers something for all ages and interests in a relaxed outdoor setting. On Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons and evenings, the Minot Area Council of the Arts hosts musical and visual arts presentations.Performances range from dance, theater and the big band sound to light opera, 50s and 60s hits, to gospel quartets and jazz! Each season brings a new variety of sights and sounds! Visual arts presentations have included rosemaling, sculpture, quilting, printmaking, watercolor and decorative painting, bobbin lace making, jewelry, and even cake decorating. (Of course, then the audience gets to eat the art!) Each season showcases special themed events including the City Band’s annual Sousa concert and audience favorites like “At the Hop”.

 

This annual program is a favorite summer pastime for thousands of area residents through the partnership of the Minot Area Council of the Arts, the City Band, the Minot Park District and the City of Minot along with the generosity of individuals, businesses and numerous in-kind donations

National Parks and Rec Month Scavenger Hunt Begins
Jul 1 all-day

From July 1st to August 30th, visit each of the Parks listed on the activity sheet to gather all of the unique code words. The code words will then create a sentence. Those who submit a completed scavenger hunt will be entered to win a prize!

Fourth of July Festival

Minot Parks celebrating the Red, White, and Blue! Our annual Fourth of July festival takes place at Oak from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 4th. The event includes music from the Missing Lynx and food vendors.

Cardboard Canoe Race
Jul 12 @ 6:30 pm

Race to the finish line in your homemade cardboard canoe! Teams consist of 2 to 4 members; however, only 1-2 members can be in the boat for the race. We will have 3 categories this year. 4th to 7th grade, 8th to 12th grade, and an adult 18 and up category.

Build A Bubble
Jul 17 @ 5:00 pm

Come out to Oak Park and help us fill the skies with bubbles! We will have bubble-making stations where you can build a giant bubble wand. Complimentary bubbles will be handed out to all attending children (while supplies last).
