Youth Scholarships

The Minot Park District strives to provide access to programs and facilities that promote a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle to all Minot Citizens, regardless of income level.  In order to achieve this goal, the Minot Park District offers youth program scholarships to those in need of financial assistance. Spring Track

Free

There will be a spring track program for girls and boys in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. Meets will be held the first 3 Mondays in May (6th, 13th and 20th) at 6:00pm at Duane Carlson Stadium. These meets will be running events only.

Summer Art Class

$15 one time fee

Art classes for youth who have completed kindergarten through six grade will be available. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:30am – noon. Each child will be scheduled to come to two 1-hour sessions a week. Registration will be held at the Roosevelt Park Zoo on April 22 from 10:00am – 3:00pm.

Fitness Gym

$15 one time fee

This is a fun activity-based program that allows kids to exercise, move around and just be active. It is for youth who have completed kindergarten through grade six. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:30am – noon. Each child will be scheduled to come to two 1-hour sessions a week. Classes will be held in the Armory on the east side of the Auditorium. Those interested should register at the Roosevelt Park Zoo on April 22nd from 10:00am – 3:00pm.

Summer Olympics

Free

Summer Olympics is a track meet for children ages 6-14. Meets are held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00pm at Duane Carlson Field (7th Street & 11th Ave SW). Children compete against others in their age group in running, jumping and throwing events. Ribbons are given to all participants. This program is free. Summer Olympics will take place on the following evenings: June 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th.

Youth Artventure Series

Join Minot Parks for Saturday morning art classes! Classes will take place once a month from October – February.  The classes are open to Pre-K – 2nd grade and 3rd – 5th graders.

Skating

Indoor Skating at the All Season Arena

Indoor skating opportunities are offered at various times throughout the winter (Nov-Feb)

Outdoor Skating

The Recreation department offers outdoor pleasure skating, hockey rinks and supervised warming houses at Polaris Park, Perkett Elementary, Roosevelt Partk, and Municipal Ball Park from December 15- February 15 annually.

Youth Baseball & Softball

Youth Baseball and Softball

$15 one time fee

Youth softball and baseball will be organized for girls grade K-12 and boys grades K-8. Each team will play two games a week, which will take place Monday through Thursday in the morning or early afternoon. If you would like your child to participate, please fill out the registration form included in the guide and return it to the Minot Recreation office by May 4th. You may also sign up on April 22nd from 10:00am – 3:00pm at the Roosevelt Park Zoo.

If your child’s name is on a roster of a team already organized, give the registration form to your coach. Do not return another form to the office.

Any special requests are due by May 3rd. The season will start June 10th and run through the first week of August.

Learn to play tennis! Lessons for children grades 1-8 will be available this summer! Lessons start the week of June 10th and will run Monday – Thursday from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Lessons will be twice a week. Children can register at either Hammond Park or South Hill Complex; whichever location you wish to have lessons at. No early registration required.
