The Minot Park District is hosting a Cardboard bobsled race at the Maysa Arena on April 12th, 2024 at 6:00 pm on the Pepsi Rink.

Come to the MAYSA Arena for a Friday evening of racing fun with the 2024 Cardboard Bobsled Race. Kids from the community will bring their homemade cardboard bobsleds for prizes and a chance to be the fastest in the West.

The Race will start right at 6:00 pm. All participants should be checked in by 5:30.

We will have 2 categories. One for 4th to 7th graders and one 8-12th graders.

All teams will consist of a pilot and 2 pushers.

An award will be given for the best design and theme so, get creative with your vessels and costumes.

We will have the staging area under the bleachers, only the pilot and the pushers will be allowed to be on the ice at any given time.

The 4th -7th grade category We will use the goal line to start and the opposite blue line for the finish. For the 8th -12th grade category, we will start at the goal line turn at the opposite blue line, and finish at the closer blue line.

All participants will need to wear clean athletic shoes. It is required that everyone on the ice wear a helmet.

Pre-registration is required. You can sign your team up for a $5 fee @minotparks.com.

CONTEST RULES

There must be at least one person riding in the sled until the finish.

Only two ‘pushers’ are permitted on the ice with a sled. Both ‘pushers’

must have a hand on the sled when pushing and when the sled crosses

the finish line. There is NO lunging sled across the finish line.

Participants must wear athletic shoes and a helmet. Hockey, bike, or football any helmet will do.

All teams must be checked in by 5:30

APPROVED MATERIALS

The only materials permitted are cardboard, tape, glue, wax, and

paint. Minot Parks District must approve any other materials.

All materials must be dry by the race.

All sleds must have hockey or packing tape lining the bottom to prevent damage to the ice.

NO wood, plastic, or metal is permitted (including staples)
