Minot, ND- The Minot Park District is excited to be offering a kayaking basics class this summer and early fall. The first class will be on Tuesday, August 1 from 7:00 – 9:00 am at the Eastside Estate boat launch.
Ages 9 and up are invited to learn paddling, launching, and safety practices while using a kayak. This class is $10 per kayak to attend, the class is free if you are providing your own kayak, paddle, and life vest. All attendees must have a life vest. Kayaking basics is geared towards beginners and families wanting to learn more about kayaking. This is also a great opportunity to learn about safety practices while kayaking on our river systems.
“Kayaking can be intimating for first timer users. The team at Minot Parks is hoping through this program we can introduce beginners to kayaking while teaching them a few basic skills to help them feel more comfortable on the water.” Says, Elly DesLauriers, Executive Director of the Minot Park District.
This class will have a limit of 20 boaters total. 10 kayaks will be available to rent for the class for $10. Paddles and life vests will be provided with rental. If the attendee is under the age of 18 an adult must accompany. Register for the class by visiting minotparks.com.
